Brads SN update April

SN95 Mustang outside workshop

Basking in the sun

This update is brought to you courtesy of Facebook marketplace. Since the last update I’ve done a lot of hunting for the right parts and its slowly paid off.

First up were the headlights, bought used from a lovely chap not too far away from us in Oxfordshire. I think the halo lights give it a much more modern look than the OE ones. Also, they are a lot better at night so a functional upgrade too.

Headlights

My internet hunting for suitable wheels carried on, I tried a few spare sets from around the workshop but nothing really worked. Ideally I was looking for 18s but you cant be too choosy with a budget build. Eventually I spotted the perfect thing, a set of Azev wheels, already machined to fit, freshly powdercoated and with new tyres!

While chatting with the guy he mentioned he also had a set of coilovers for sale. Initially I was intending to use Pedders Extreme XA coilovers but they are out of stock and on back order for a while so a brand new set of BC racing ones that the guy had bought and never fitted were chucked into the deal with the wheels. Even better, it turned out he was buying a compressor from my village he had found on marketplace and offered to deliver!

Wheels and coilover suspension

When I got round to fitting all this we did a lot of messing about with wheel spacing to get it just right. However looking right and being right are 2 different things.

When it looked perfect the tyres rubbed on the arches horrendously.

The answer was to trim part of the inner arch, use an arch roller to flatten the inside of the arch and then trim the outer arch trim pieces down. Nothing is ever as simple as just chucking some wheels on!

This brings us about up to date. Aesthetically I would like to swap the wing to more of a Saleen style. Really though the next jobs are performace based. Will it be a Pi swap, will it be forced induction. maybe it’ll get an LS shoved in it, who knows, lets throw the market place dice and see what we get next!
